Complete a hospital eligibility check

If you’re planning to use your Medibank hospital cover, complete a hospital eligibility check first to confirm if we’ll pay benefits towards your treatment. You’ll need the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) item codes from your specialist. Contact your specialist if you don’t have your codes.

Alternatively, chat to us online or call 132 331.

Ask your specialist about their fees and care instructions

Your specialist is the best person to speak to about their fees for your hospital procedure, as well as any specific care instructions. You might have more than one specialist involved in your care, so make sure you speak to each of them.

Complete any forms sent to you by the hospital

Once your specialist has booked your procedure, the hospital will contact you directly about your admission, usually about two weeks before you go to hospital.

Organise transport and time off work or study

Plan how you’ll get to and from hospital, and allow enough time to rest and recover afterwards.

Pack for hospital

Your specialist/s and the hospital will advise you of any specific items you need to pack for hospital, such as recent scans or forms.

Contact us for support

Preparing for hospital can be overwhelming. That’s why we have dedicated teams, services and programs to help eligible members with hospital cover through the whole process.
